Child Care Centre

Classroom One

Classroom One currently hosts our "Junior Preschool" Program. This Program begins in September, for toddler aged children, and progresses with them as they grow into pre-schoolers.

"While attending our program, your child will become familiar with routine, build meaningful relationships

and develop their confidence and independence in a secure and fun environment.

Each day we provide thoughtfully planned opportunities to build on children’s curiosity and their questions about the world around them.

We are co-learners with the children, exploring new ideas, making meaning, and constructing knowledge together. We observe the children in their play, and reflect as a team on how to build off of what we see. The experiences we plan allow children to explore materials and questions of interest to them and to build on their existing knowledge. Every experience is designed with the children’s

development in mind.

We are dedicated to fostering strong partnerships with families and the community. We believe

that young children are capable of making choices -they are supported and encouraged in this

process. The elements of active learning and choice are strategically interwoven in our program,  encouraging children to become problem solvers."

Classroom Two

Julie and Melissa are the lead educators in our "Senior Preschool" Program.  Home to our older preschool-aged children, this is their last-full day program with us before they move into Kindergarten!

"In Preschool Two, we provide a safe and welcoming environment for all children. We create thoughtful play-based learning opportunities throughout our day. Community engagement is very important to us - we welcome children bringing elements of home into our classroom. We know how capable preschool aged children are, and encourage their independence and self-help skills everyday! Social and emotional development is imperative for all preschoolers. This gives children a sense of self-confidence, empathy, and the ability to develop long-lasting and meaningful relationships."

Junior After School

Hillary and Gabriella currently lead our Junior After School program, for children in kindergarten and up.

"We are a place-based, and child and interest led program.

For us, being a place-based program means that we spend a lot of time exploring our role in various communities. We are working to build relationships with each other, with the James Strath community, with the Peterborough/Nogojiwanog community, and with the local flora and fauna that we share these spaces with.

As a child and interest led program, we encourage children to share their plans and ideas for our program. We believe that children should be active citizens in their worlds, and have a sense of ownership over the program. The children have the freedom to explore their own interests, to delve deeper into their passions. As educators, we offer opportunities to further explore current interests and chances to try new things.

We strive to create a space where all children can experience safety, comfort, and connection."
